My work celebrates the pure magic that happens when expressive brushstrokes, gestural lines and open fields of color are combined on a canvas. I am fascinated by the subliminal power and universal language that emerges when these basic elements join together.

The moment of beginning—when I first engage a big, white, blank canvas—is one of the most captivating experiences I know. I continue to be intrigued by the repeated process of laying the paint on the surface, observing the relationships that occur, and then responding.
